The department has stated with an UG program during the year 1971
with a basic intake of 60 which is now 120. Later it has grown vertically by
adding two PG programs in ELECTRONICS, DIGITAL COMMUNICATION and VLSI DESIGN
AND EMBEDDED SYSTEMS during 1986, 1996 and 2014 respectively. Marching towards
the progress it has been recognized as a research centre by VTU during 2008.
Since 2011 it is also recognized as a research centre for PhD program under
Quality improvement Program by AICTE.
